At the Indian Premium Table, Why Wealth Has Not Yet Reached the Water

At the Indian Premium Table, Why Wealth Has Not Yet Reached the Water

On the one input the modern Indian premium kitchen has, for two decades, quietly underestimated and what the household is finally starting to ask about.

Pikova is a brand that exists, in part, because of one curious gap in the Indian home.

The household upgrades almost everything. The olive oil is small-batch and from a named region. The ghee is from a farm the family has chosen carefully. The coffee is single-origin and the conversation about altitude has been had at the dining table at least once. The salt is hand-harvested. The vegetables come from an organic farm to the family. The bread is from a baker, not a factory.

And the water comes from a unit installed under the counter eight years ago, and the household has not really thought about it since.

We started Pikova because we believe this gap is closing, and we want to be the brand that helps the household closes it well.

What we have observed in Gurgaon homes

Pikova begins in Gurgaon. Not by accident. Because this is where the conversation has already changed.

We’ve sat in your living rooms. We’ve been in RWA meetings. We’ve heard the dinner-table talk. The pattern is clear. RO was bought for one reason: safety. And it did that job. But then the same standard you applied to food, to air, to everything in your home got skipped for the one thing you consume most. Water.

Now the question has shifted. It’s no longer: Is it safe. It’s: Is it what I actually want in the body I’m building. That question matters more in Gurgaon today. Groundwater reports show uranium levels above the WHO and BIS guideline of 30 ppb in parts of Haryana, including Gurugram district. RO can reduce it, but it also strips everything else. And it still leaves you wondering what’s left in.

That’s the gap Pikova was built for. Natural mineral water. Bottled at the source. Tested. Traceable. Nothing added, nothing taken away except what nature never put in. Safety is assumed. Now we choose what goes in the body._

What is missing in the kitchen, even when nothing else is

A natural mineral water, sourced from a protected aquifer and minimally processed, carries the geological signature of its source. The calcium it carries was placed there by rock. The magnesium it carries was placed there by rock. The bicarbonates were generated over time by the slow chemistry between water, mineral, and stone. By the time it reaches a Pikova jar, the water has been composed by geography across a span of time the consumer has typically never thought about.

The RO under the counter  and we want to be clear that the RO is doing its job cannot produce this. The RO is a safety device. It works by stripping water to a baseline. Any minerals that emerge on the consumer’s side of the membrane were added back through a mineral cartridge. The water reads safe, but the geological richness that natural waters historically delivered to the household is absent.

In a household where every other input is now evaluated for its naturalness, its source, its mineral profile, this gap becomes more visible the more the household upgrades elsewhere.

What the Pikova household keeps and what it adds

We do not ask any household to remove its RO. The RO has a real role. It is the right tool for the household’s working baseline that is  cooking, washing, general use. We use one ourselves.

What we are asking is something simpler. Add a sourced, natural water to the household for the moments when water is consumption, not utility. The morning glass. The dining-table pour. The hospitality served to a guest. The water that sits in a brass tumbler beside the bed at night. The water the household is, in a deeper sense, choosing to build itself out of.

This is the layered approach the same household already takes in olive oil and ghee. A working tool for the daily, a chosen one for the moments that matter. The water category, in Indian premium homes, is finally being invited to operate in the same way.

Pikova is, in this sense, not a replacement for any RO. We are the layer above it. The water that joins the table.

What we publish so the household can decide

Pikova publishes the things a serious consumer should be able to find quickly.

Our source is a Himalayan aquifer at a depth of more than 250 feet, in the lower Himalayan region.

Our composition, as it arrives in the bottle, is naturally occurring calcium 32-45 mg/L, magnesium 5-7 mg/L, bicarbonates 130-160 mg/L, natural pH 7.8-8+, TDS 240-280 mg/L. Our processing is restricted to minimal physical filtration that protects safety without altering character. We bottle at source. We are compliant with IS 13428:2024. We test every batch through third-party labs and we will share the reports on request.

These are not selling points. They are the basic facts a household needs in order to make a serious decision about an input that builds the body it has chosen to live in.

What we hear when the household tastes Pikova for the first time

We have done a small number of in-home tastings across Gurgaon societies which is quiet, unhurried, with no script. The pattern is consistent. The household, after a few sips, becomes thoughtful. There is a quality to the water they cannot quite name, but they can feel. They describe it differently each time.

Smooth. Full. Soft. Complete.

That comment, in particular, told us we had built the brand correctly. The body remembers. The household remembers. We are not introducing a new product into a saturated market. We are returning a sense of water that Indian homes have been quietly missing for two decades.

Pikova is the brand that is bringing it back, carefully and at scale, starting with the Gurgaon households who have already done the work in every other category and were, by now, ready for this One.

The Indian premium table is upgrading its water. We are honoured to be at the start of that.
